Mailbox Monday #6

Wow- Just when I think it isn't possible to beat the previous week or- that I am about to get caught up, something like this goes an beats my wildest expectations of being a book blogger!

After receiving 22 books this week I have decided to tighten up on my review requests for a few weeks until I can get caught up. As you guys and gals know, my only no-no's are horror, paranormal, and vampire. Yeah, I have enough crazy dreams without adding fuel to the fire.

With that said, aside from having a huge pile of TBR's, I am also changing careers in less than two weeks. After 9 years of being a 911 dispatcher, I will be changing paths and starting a new career as a Code Enforcement Officer. I am excited to say the least, but a little down and out considering I will be leaving behind some of the funniest, best-est friends, crazy nuts and an over fill of Chuck Norris jokes. Not to mention tons of lasting memories. And if changing careers wasn't enough of a set back in the book blogging world, spring is just around the corner and my greenhouse is calling my name.

But, anyways- back to Mailbox Monday. Lets see what Mrs. Mail Lady brought me! *Can someone hand me a tissue?* 

Okay... Since I received so many great books last week I won't elaborate on them all, but a few here and there. All the book covers will take you to Amazon where you can read more about the books, read reviews and find out more about the author. 

  First and foremost, my most exciting book last week was Rush by Maya Banks. I had no idea it was coming and so far, I have no idea where it came from. The awesome mystery package included Rush, The Reunited, by Shiloh Walker, and Back To You, by Robin Kaye. You can expect to see those reviews coming very soon!

Goodreads First Reads Giveaways

Books I won through the Goodreads Giveaways that I received in the mail this week. Some of these were won last week while others may have been a few weeks ago and just now came in.

Mailbox Monday #5

Oh what a week! I received 7 books this week, which I know- is not a lot, but there were some very interesting ones that I can't wait to read. One of the books sounded so good I had to skip the TBR pile and start on it almost immediately (review to follow shortly). Another was more of a rarity  The book itself as in the story and title was not a rarity, but more so the edition that I received. :) 

The only problem with having so many good books to choose from ... is well, having so many to choose from! I can't decide which one to go to next. At first I tried to stick to the rule of 'first come first serve'. That didn't work out so well and I found that those I were most interested would find there way to the top. But with so many interesting books how do you narrow it down then?

Bride By Mistake

Daddy With a Deadline   

  I received a request to review Bride By Mistake and Daddy With a Deadline by Marilyn Shank and published by Montlake. 

  As soon as I heard about them I was interested and even more so when I got them in! Bride By Mistake has an intriguing cover, as you can see from the photo. It's simple, yet leaves a lot to be imagined... which is always a good thing for me since I act on impulse when it comes to book covers!

  Another one of my favorites from this week as First Thing I See.

PROOF Edition

 I have seen it popping up here and there and heard that it's supposed to be an erotic romance along the lines of Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven't put much thought into purchasing it due to my huge TBR, but I have been wanting to read it.

 Well, low and behold, Vi Keeland contacted me and asked me to review it. Ha- worked out perfect. Except for one little thing- it's only available in eBook format and I don't prefer to review eBooks. It's one of the few ways I manage to keep my TBR pile at about 20 vs 200, at any given day of the week. However, Mrs. Keeland offered to send me her PROOF copy. As you can see from my image of all the books, it has a white/blank spine. The print is very large- probably about a 20-22 size font, the back cover is blank and it has a HUGE proof stamp in the back of the book. 

I am aware that receiving a proof copy is NOT worthy of a CNN new flash, I did find it rather neat. I mean after all, how often do you manage to get your hands on a proof edition of a book that is intended for ecopies only? Not an ARC but an actual PROOF!

Mailbox Monday #4

This weeks Mailbox Monday was the biggest by far! This week I received 7 new books to review, a CD that goes with Stories In the Key of Read, and two signed book plates from Sylvain Reynard for Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture. :) 

Needless to say, Mrs. Mail Lady was very good to me this week. So good- that I went ahead and bought a bigger mailbox so that she wouldn't have to get out of her car every day to drop off my deliveries... Now, if I can just get hubby to put it up for me! 

So let's see what Mrs. Mail Lady Brought... Shall We?
