At a large corner table with bench seats, a tall,

grey-haired crag of a man sat tuning his guitar. Across

the way sat a fiddler with fingers so stubby, if Ty hadn’t

known others like him, he would have wondered how

those hands could coax milk from a cow let alone a

tune from a violin. Simon O’Flaherty, like a man

wrestling an octopus, fitted together the puzzling mass

of tubes and reeds of uilleann pipes.

Soon jigs and reels flowed one into another. More

musicians came and the crowd grew to stretch the

walls. Ty regretted having given up his seat. He leaned

a hip on a barstool and sipped the remains of his pint.

“Can I get you another?” The publican reached for

his glass to refill it.

Ty knew he should wave him off, claiming he’d

had his limit, but he felt a need to fit in here, soak up

the camaraderie, feel his roots. “A whiskey. Thanks.”

He studied the room. Cait was looking fine, and he

wondered if he had drunk her pretty over the last hours.

Fishermen, their faces ruddied by the wind and the sea,

talked of the catch, the price of salmon, the weather.

Farmers chewed over the breeding of sheep or cows

and if the rain would come or go to make a good

harvest.

Snatches of gossip—whose land was for sale, high

taxes, would Connaught beat Wicklow, who’d been

seen walking out with whom. And everyone, it seemed,

had a comment on the front page of today’s newspaper.

“Feeney was madder than a bag of cats…It’s

throwing apples into an orchard to try to reason with

him…Give Turlough’s girl some credit…Ah, now,

My Review of Her Accidental Boyfriend

 Her Accidental Boyfriend is only the second book I have read from Entangled Publishing. Both were Bliss romance novels, and absolutely awesome! I can honestly say that I am now a huge fan of Entangled Publishing and will be signing up for more of their promotional campaigns.
 

Anyways, I'll get back to my review of Her Accidental Boyfriend, now...

Me and this book had a few love-hate moments, which is common for me and most books. As expected, it was a sappy romance so that was 'LOVE MOMENT #1'. The fact that it was similar to the book I just read, Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris, was the only real 'HATE DISLIKE MOMENT I had with Her Accidental Boyfriend. While it was it's own unique story, they both had similar theme... A simple, sweet girl makes up a pretend boyfriend to comfort her parents, then has to suddenly find a hot hunk to fill the position when it's time to visit home. I'm not saying that's a bad thing... Not at all!  I thoroughly enjoyed both books and will continue reading the series' and other books by both authors. I was just mere coincidence that I, unfortunately, ended up reading them back to back for different tours. 
 

Aside from the common theme, I really enjoyed reading the book! The characters were realistic, easy to relate to, and with best friends like Charlotte, it makes for a comical read. 
 
Author Robin Bielman does a fabulous job describing characters, scenes and situations in a way that you can relate to, and connect with. From butterflies in your stomach during the sweet scenes, to tearing up in the sad ones, Her Accidental Boyfriend is nothing shy of a great read that is engaging and hard to put down! A clean, well-written contemporary romance that you will eventually want to read again.
 
Also, I think it's worth mentioning that even though I have not read Kissing the Maid of Honor, (the first book in the Secret Wishes Series) I was still able to read Her Accidental Boyfriend as a standalone book and not feel as if I were missing something from the first book in the series. Of course, I will go back and read the first book simply because I enjoyed the second one so much.
 

All and all, if you enjoy a sweet, contemporary romance series, or standalone book, then I suggest that you consider Robin Bielman's Her Accidental Boyfriend!

 A lump rose in her throat as she caught sight of the ornate casket, draped with a full spray of lilies, carnations, and palm fronds. The only reason she was here, clutching Rowena’s and Victoria’s hands in hers instead of shrinking into the background with the other servants, was the kindness of the man who lay inside. After Prudence’s father had died, her mother, who had worked at Sir Philip’s estate as a girl, had been sent to attend to Rowena and Victoria’s ailing mother. When his wife died, Sir Philip asked her to stay on to help raise the girls, and Prudence, exactly between his daughters in age, became part of the family. Prudence, who volunteered her time at several different poorhouses in the city, knew exactly what happened to young girls left alone in the world. She would forever be grateful to Sir Philip for not allowing that to happen to her.

She blinked away her tears and occupied herself by looking at the rest of the congregation. Only a few looked familiar. Among them were Rupert Brooke, the high-strung and handsome young poet; Ben Tillett, the iron-jawed union leader; and Roger Fry, the controversial artist responsible for bringing London’s shocked attention to postimpressionism some years prior. Once the service started, Prudence sank into a well of grief that threatened to drown her. The waves of it lapped at her from all sides, covered her head, and made sight almost impossible. Inside, her heart broke and a waterfall of sorrow poured from the cracks. On one side, Victoria sobbed quietly, while Rowena’s stiff resolve buoyed her from the other. She clung to their hands as the service passed in a blur of speeches.

They remained that way until it was time to get into the ornate black and gold funeral carriages that would take them back to their home in Mayfair for the reception. Behind the carriages stood a line of motorcars; most of the wealthy guests had long given up their carriages for the convenience and speed of automobiles. The Earl himself had several, and Sir Philip’s sleek Eton-blue Belsize sat idle in the carriage house, but the Earl insisted on traditional horse-drawn carriages.

“Miss Tate will ride in the staff carriage.” The Earl’s voice brooked no opposition and his square jaw firmed. Prudence knew that look. Rowena’s pretty face held the same expression when she got all stubborn about something.

Victoria’s eyes widened. “Prudence rides with us.”

“Nonsense. The Duke of Plymouth wishes to join us and there isn’t enough room.”

Prudence placed her hands on Victoria’s shoulders. Tension vibrated through the young girl’s slender body and Prudence’s stomach knotted, sure that Victoria was going to throw a fit, the kind she used to throw when the family still called her baby and she wanted the biggest sweet in the shop. Even at eighteen, Victoria wasn’t above a tantrum or two if she thought the situation warranted it. But her waiflike face suddenly fell and her lower lip trembled.

“It’ll be all right,” Prudence whispered. “I’ll go back with the staff and meet you at home.”
